Determine the Style of Photographs You Desire

The first step is to decide on is what your preference is for the photographic style you might prefer. The most common (and the default approach) is a well-lit evenly exposed image. Depending on how you will use the photo however, you may desire a more dramatic looking photo that incorporates more shadow and contour.

Preparing for Your Headshot Session
It's essential to prepare yourself to ensure a successful headshot session. Start by selecting an outfit that reflects your personal style and profession while avoiding busy patterns or distracting accessories. Choose solid colors or subtle patterns that won't compete for attention. Additionally, consider grooming details such as hair and makeup to enhance your features without appearing overdone.

Angles and Body Posture
We will play with different angles to add dimension and visual interest to your shot. Good posture is key to looking confident and approachable in your headshot. We work with you to keep movements fluid and natural, avoiding any stiffness that can translate poorly on camera.

Facial Expression
Your facial expressions can make or break a headshot, so it's essential to find a good balance between looking relaxed, engaging and professional.  From experience, we understand that many people start out feeling a bit stressed during the photoshoot.  We work to make the session comfortable and enjoyable for you. Above all, we strive for a headshot that exudes confidence and authenticity.

Props and Accessories
Props or accessories can sometimes add personality and depth to your headshot while highlighting your interests or profession. It may be holding a favorite book, incorporating something that is relevant to your field, or simply accessorizing with jewelry or a hat. Of course we want to ensure that these won’t overshadow your presence in the photo.

Interaction and Communication
Open communication is key when working with us to ensure you get the results you desire. We will guide you during the photo session but don't hesitate to voice your preferences about angles, poses or anything else that you'd like us to know. Trust our expertise and experience, but also feel empowered to provide input and collaborate on creating the perfect shot.

Editing and Retouching
We frame, crop and retouch headshots, but exercise restraint to maintain a natural appearance. We always avoid over-editing or applying filters that can distort features and undermine the authenticity of an image. We can create an image background based on your requirements or preference.
